To learn how to make minecraft invisibility potion, brew a Potion of Night Vision with 1 fermented spider eye in a brewing stand. You need 1–3 Night Vision potions, 1 fermented spider eye, and blaze powder as fuel. The result lasts 3 minutes, or 8 minutes after adding redstone dust.
How to make minecraft invisibility potion
Invisibility is made by changing Night Vision into its corrupted potion form. You cannot brew it directly from an Awkward Potion. First create Potion of Night Vision, then add a fermented spider eye to the same bottles in the brewing stand.
Ingredients and equipment
- 1 brewing stand
- 1 blaze powder to fuel the brewing stand
- 1–3 glass bottles filled with water
- Nether wart for the Night Vision potion’s base
- 1 golden carrot for each batch of Night Vision potions
- 1 fermented spider eye
The brewing stand has three bottle slots, so one ingredient can process up to three potions at the same time. You only need one fermented spider eye for a full batch of three bottles.
What you need before brewing
If you do not already have a brewing setup, gather the basic equipment first. A brewing stand requires 1 blaze rod and 3 cobblestone, blackstone, or cobbled deepslate blocks. Place the blaze rod in the center slot of a crafting table and the three stone-tier blocks across the bottom row.
You also need blaze powder for fuel. Craft blaze powder from a blaze rod, then place it in the fuel slot on the left side of the brewing stand. One blaze powder provides enough fuel for 20 brewing operations.
Make glass bottles with 3 glass blocks arranged in a V shape in a crafting table, using the bottom-left, bottom-right, and middle-bottom slots. Fill the bottles by using them on a water source block or a filled cauldron.
How to craft a fermented spider eye
A fermented spider eye is the ingredient that turns Night Vision into Invisibility. Its recipe is shapeless, so the items can go in any three slots of a crafting table.
| Ingredient | Quantity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Spider Eye | 1 | Spiders, cave spiders, witches, or some loot |
| Brown Mushroom | 1 | Caves, swamps, forests, the Nether, or mushroom islands |
| Sugar | 1 | Crafted from sugar cane |
Place 1 spider eye, 1 brown mushroom, and 1 sugar anywhere in the crafting grid. The result is 1 fermented spider eye. A red mushroom does not work differently here; either mushroom color can be used in current versions, but brown mushrooms are the traditional choice for this recipe.
Make the Potion of Night Vision first
Night Vision is the starting potion for Invisibility. Brew it before adding the fermented spider eye.
- Place 1–3 water bottles in the three bottom slots of the brewing stand.
- Put 1 nether wart in the ingredient slot at the top.
- Wait for the brewing process to finish. The water bottles become Awkward Potions.
- Leave the Awkward Potions in the bottom slots and replace the nether wart with 1 golden carrot.
- Wait for the second brewing cycle to finish. The bottles become Potions of Night Vision.
The golden carrot recipe uses 1 carrot surrounded by 8 gold nuggets in a crafting table. Nether wart is found in Nether fortresses and bastion remnants, while golden carrots can be crafted or obtained through trading with master-level farmer villagers.
Brewing the potion
- Keep the Potion of Night Vision bottles in the bottom slots of the brewing stand.
- Place 1 fermented spider eye in the top ingredient slot.
- Confirm that the brewing stand has blaze powder in its fuel slot.
- Wait for the brewing cycle to finish.
- Remove the finished Potions of Invisibility from the bottle slots.
The brewing stand processes all filled bottle slots together. If you place three Potions of Night Vision into the bottom slots, one fermented spider eye creates three Potions of Invisibility instead of only one.
A normal Potion of Invisibility lasts 3:00. To extend it, put the finished potions back into the bottom slots and add 1 redstone dust to the ingredient slot. The extended version lasts 8:00. Redstone changes the duration, not the strength of the effect.
Turn it into a splash or lingering potion
A drinkable potion affects the player who uses it. For group tactics, traps, or safer application, convert it into another potion type.
Splash Potion of Invisibility
Place one or more Potions of Invisibility in the bottom slots and add 1 gunpowder to the top slot. After brewing, the bottles become Splash Potions of Invisibility that can be thrown at yourself or another target.
Lingering Potion of Invisibility
First make a Splash Potion of Invisibility with gunpowder. Then brew that splash potion with 1 dragon’s breath. The result creates an area cloud when thrown, allowing entities inside the cloud to receive the effect.
Use splash and lingering versions carefully because you can affect yourself, allies, or nearby mobs. Test the throw distance in a safe area before using them during combat or exploration.
What invisibility actually hides
Invisibility hides the player or mob model from normal view, but it does not make every part of you disappear. Armor, held items, and some visible equipment remain easy to spot. Remove your armor and put away tools or weapons when you need the best possible concealment.
- Armor remains visible while equipped.
- Items held in your hands remain visible.
- Some mobs can still detect you through behavior, proximity, sound, or other mechanics.
- Invisibility does not prevent fall damage, block sounds, attacks, or interactions.
- Using the effect does not make you immune to damage.
For stealth, drink the potion before entering an enemy area, avoid sprinting when possible, and keep your distance from mobs. Invisibility is most useful when combined with careful movement rather than treated as complete protection.
Java and Bedrock Edition differences
The main brewing recipe is the same in Java Edition and Bedrock Edition: combine a Potion of Night Vision with a fermented spider eye in a brewing stand. Both editions support the normal 3:00 potion and the redstone-extended 8:00 version.
Splash potion duration differs between editions. In Bedrock Edition, splash effects have a shorter duration than the drinkable version, while Java Edition keeps the same duration for the corresponding splash potion. If timing matters, use a drinkable potion or check the effect timer after throwing a splash potion.
Common brewing mistakes
- Using an Awkward Potion: a fermented spider eye does not turn an Awkward Potion directly into Invisibility. You need Potion of Night Vision.
- Using a regular spider eye: regular spider eyes are not the correct modifier. Craft a fermented spider eye with a mushroom, sugar, and spider eye.
- Forgetting blaze powder: the brewing stand will not process ingredients without fuel.
- Adding redstone too early: redstone extends an existing Invisibility potion. It does not create Invisibility from Night Vision.
- Expecting armor to disappear: armor and held items remain visible, so remove them for better stealth.
For the fastest batch, fill all three bottle slots before each brewing step. Brew three Night Vision potions together, then convert all three with one fermented spider eye. Finally, extend the whole batch with one redstone dust if you need longer coverage.
